Incoming! Sun unleashes CME at Earth. →
Early Sunday, the sun’s magnetosphere hit a breaking point and a filament of the corona erupted, allowing a Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) to slip out. CMEs are normal behavior for the sun and they are usually pretty harmless, save for occasionally interfering with satellite function. This one is nothing to worry about and should do little more than cause some spectacular aurorae in far-northern and southern latitudes. Keep an eye out for aurorae tonight!
